MISSION CONTROL WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO
ON A MISSION FOR THE MISSION
ON A MISSION FOR THE MISSION was founded in 2008 by Willie Milligan to support the Downtown Mission Food Bank. Since its inception, all funds raised have gone directly toward providing food for those in need.
The annual Mission Ride, held on the last Sunday of August, began at the Downtown Mission in Windsor and concluded in Colchester with raffles and a dinner. After the first year, Patrick “Frenchy” Aligard and George Winney took over, introducing weekly bike nights leading up to the ride. Over the next nine years, the event grew to raise approximately $10,000 annually.
When George became ill, Frenchy partnered with the Sober Sons Motorcycle Club, which expanded both the ride and bike nights despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ride was relocated to Lakeshore and evolved into a scenic Essex County route ending in Colchester with a steak dinner and raffles. Annual fundraising increased to more than $20,000.
Following four successful years, Shaun Fathers assumed leadership and, with the support of dedicated volunteers, formed the Mission Control Board. The organization continued to grow, incorporating the annual Biker Breakfast, a tradition spanning more than 20 years, while maintaining weekly bike nights from May through September and returning the Mission Ride's starting point to Windsor. In its first year under the new leadership team, more than $30,000 was raised, including a donation of $25,686 to the Downtown Mission Food Bank.
In February 2024, Mission Control expanded to 10 board members and began the process of becoming a registered charity. On June 14, 2024, that goal was achieved when ON A MISSION FOR THE MISSION officially received charitable status.
